The horse’s owner stated that the horse had suffered from chronic and sometimes severe lameness for several years. The consulted veterinarian and the farrier had recommended the horse being euthanized.
When the horse came to our facility it was unable to put any weight on the left front hoof. As can be seen on the photos the hoof showed multiple deformations. The medial wall had acquired a concave shape and showed a bleeding crack reaching up into the coronary band. The lateral half of the hoof had slanted significantly and had been pushed outward.

The consecutive hoof orthopedic treatments aimed at restoring a balanced hoof, thusly healing the cause and the symptom (the crack) at the same time.
